Are you looking for a way to sell your handmades?
LOOK NO FURTHER!
Etsy is the place for you!
What is Etsy?
Etsy is an e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items as well as art and craft supplies. These items cover a wide range including art, photography, clothing, jewelry, food, bath and beauty products, quilts, knick-knacks, and toys. Many individuals also sell craft supplies such as beads, wire, and jewelry-making tools. All vintage items must be at least 20 years old. The site follows in the tradition of open craft fairs, giving sellers personal storefronts where they list their goods for a fee of $0.20 per item.
I have an Etsy shop….I will admit, I don’t take advantage of all that Etsy has to offer because selling retail isn’t the focus of my business. So why do I have an Etsy shop?
- A place for people to purchase my items
- Etsy ranks high in google searches so it makes it easy for people to find you
- I have had two licensing deals come from Etsy. Companies look for art that would fit their products and Etsy is a great resource for them.
When you open your Etsy shop (which you can do in an afternoon), there’s a plethora of tips, techniques and guidance for selling your items. Follow their blog and take advantage of all the information they offer and you WILL find success!
It is easy to set up your shop and only costs .20 a listing plus 3.5% of the sale. (Keep this in mind when pricing your items, because Paypal will also get a percentage of the sales.)
